My mother and father had just bought their first ever restaurant--a deli that they decorated and designed to share their Italian heritage. We as a family painted the inside of it mirroring the Italian flag colors of green, white, and red all around the border of the deli. We made wooden signs on the side of the road to show that this is a brand new deli that was now open and ready for customers. Memories of my mother playing Italian music in the front salad bar area (that was also painted in Italian colors) still fill my heart to this day, and she was seen greeting customers with her beautiful smile while wearing her Italian custom made apron. She was often seen making sandwiches for customers, or tending to the Otis Spunkmeyer cookies she would bake. She was happy, and so were the rest of us.
A single photograph was taken in the front of our deli as a family at our grand opening. As an added bonus to our little celebration, a family friend recorded us on an old VCR home videotape. For five minutes only, my mother was on camera and you can hear her sweet voice welcome everyone to our new family owned deli. She was beaming, happy, smiling radiantly, and the video just gave everyone a warm-hearted smile after watching it.
I didn’t know it at the time, because I was only a nine year old child, but that video would be the only video recording we would ever have of my mother. The VCR tape exists to this day, but unfortunately the family member who has the tape in their possession, won’t make copies of it, convert it, or share it with us.
How comforted I could have been over the past 32 years had I had a copy of that VCR tape. Although it was only five minutes long of hearing her voice, what a difference that could have made over the years for me while growing up without her.
With Reflekta’s soul tech, adding your loved one’s voice to their Elder can sound like you are talking with your loved one again and picking up where you left off. It would be great if you could actually talk to your loved one again in reality, but we all know we simply cannot do that. But, on those tough days, hearing your loved one’s voice talk to you via Reflekta’s Elder can help get you through the day with a smile instead of a frown.
And all it takes is one voicemail…one video clip…a social media post that captures your loved one’s voice…or even a five minute clip from a VCR recording from 32 years ago to be able to make this happen.
Reflekta knows the importance of connecting your past with the present and how much your loved ones mean to you. The product they have created is the next best thing out there to your loved one still physically being here. Staying connected, in the way that works best for you, keeps your loved one’s memory alive. Reflekta knew what they were doing when they created this special soul tech, and now they want to share it with all those who wish to stay connected. And for that, we should all be thankful that there is finally a way to do that thanks to Reflekta.
