You don't need to have everything prepared before you begin creating a Reflektion. You can start with what you already know and use our Biographer, an AI-powered conversational guide, to help you build and refine your Reflektion over time.

Memories, stories, personal experiences, photos, and voice recordings can all help you create a more personal Reflektion. The information you need depends on what you want your Reflektion to preserve.

What information should I gather?

Start with whatever you have available. You don't need to collect everything before getting started.

You may want to include:

Voice recordings: Audio recordings, voicemails, interviews, voice messages, or other recordings that capture the person's voice.
Photos: Images of important people, places, milestones, and everyday moments.
Videos: Home movies, family recordings, interviews, social media videos, or other footage that captures their personality, voice, expressions, and mannerisms.
Personal details: Hobbies, interests, values, relationships, beliefs, and the things that make someone unique.
Stories and memories: Meaningful moments, family stories, favorite experiences, and important life events.
Written materials: Personal letters, handwritten notes, journals, diaries, emails, text messages, published works, articles, obituaries, and other writing that captures someone's life, personality, or experiences.
Digital memories and media: Social media posts, online profiles, blogs, podcasts, presentations, digital photo albums, and other content created or shared throughout a person's life.
Life documents and keepsakes: Biographies, memorial tributes, awards, meaningful correspondence, or other materials that help tell their story.

You can add information as you go. Whether you're starting with a few memories, old photographs, or a collection of personal recordings and documents, you can begin building your Reflektion with what you have and continue developing it over time.

Do I need voice recordings?

Voice recordings are needed to recreate someone's voice for spoken conversations with your Reflektion, which unlock at 80% interview completion. You can add a voice sample at any time so it's ready when you reach that milestone.

A 30-second clip can work, but a clear, natural recording of 1–3 minutes is ideal. For the best results, choose audio with minimal background noise and a natural speaking voice.

Keep in mind: The recreated voice may reflect what's present in the original recording, including background noise, tone, vocal range, and energy. The clearer and cleaner the source audio, the better the results are likely to be.

Log in to reflekta.ai and select the option to create a Reflektion. Choose whether you're creating one for yourself or another person, then enter their name.

You can build your Reflektion over time, so there's no need to have everything prepared before you begin.

2. Add a portrait photo and start your interview

Upload a photo to create a watercolor portrait of the person your Reflektion represents. Choose a photo that clearly shows their face.For the best results, choose a clear photo featuring one person, with their face and upper body visible and minimal background distractions.

Next, begin a guided interview with your Biographer. Your Biographer is an AI-powered guide that helps you build your Reflektion's life story through conversation.

You can answer its questions, ask your own questions, share a memory, or explain something about the person you're preserving. You don't need to follow a script or know exactly what to say.

3. Share information as you go

Provide the stories, memories, details, and other materials you want to include. Your Biographer can help you explore ideas, develop information, and edit your Reflektion throughout the process.

You can work at your own pace rather than trying to complete everything in one sitting.

4. Review and refine your Reflektion

As you build your Reflektion, you can continue the conversation with your Biographer to add information, clarify details, and make edits.

If you remember another story later or want to include something you forgot, you can continue building on what you've already shared.

5. Begin interacting with your Reflektion

As your Reflektion develops, you can interact with it through conversation and explore the stories, experiences, and perspectives represented by the information you've provided.

What if I don't have much information to start with?

That's okay. You don't need a complete collection of memories, photos, or recordings to begin.

Start with what you remember or already have. Your Biographer can help guide the conversation, and you can add more information as you think of it.
