A Legacy that Lasted Over A Century

by Michelle Arana on

“So they went off together. But wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the Forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing.”
-A.A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner

On October 14, 1926, A.A. Milne had the very first Winnie the Pooh book published and released. That means that we just celebrated a 100 year legacy of Milne’s beloved stories that have turned into movies, TV shows, and even a treasured ride at Disneyland. These heartwarming magical stories have entered children’s bedrooms and filled cherished memories in families and their home memories for decades.

In August of this very same year, we also lost the great actor, Peter Cullen. He was known for being the voice of Eeyore in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh series. So the same year we celebrate the century lasting tribute to a wonderful children’s classic, we also remember the great actor who was a big part of this story.

That’s how stories and legacies happen. All it takes is one great story--one great memory--and then they slowly add up and start building a legacy. This particular legacy is well known around the world, while family legacies are passed on to family generations. Both are important and both have a part to play as time passes on.

All over the internet currently, there have been tributes and scenes of Peter Cullen walking up the steps to Heaven with Eeyore right beside him and the remaining Winnie the Pooh characters watching as they both leave. And then the above quote comes to perspective as that was the ending of the second and final Winnie the Pooh book by A.A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner. Although these beloved stories were written over 100 years ago now, their legacies have carried on to multiple generations all around the world. That’s the power of a legacy.

Reflekta is only one year in to our digital legacy journey, but our hopes are to be a part of family legacy preservation projects for decades and centuries to come. What we all do to preserve now, can make such an impact as the years pass on. We hope 100 years from now families are still seeing how Reflekta is preserving their legacies.
