Honoring and Remembering All Those Affected and All Lives Lost During the September 11, 2001 Attacks
On September 11, 2001, it is estimated that nearly 3,000 people died in a single day during those tragic attacks. Roughly 1,600 people lost a spouse or partner, more than 3,000 children lost a mother or father, and mothers gave birth to about 100 babies who were born in the months following the attacks with spouses who lost their lives. The average age of the children who lost a parent was between 8 to 9 years old.
While the rest of the world still to this day remembers what exactly they were doing when the news broke of the attacks 25 years ago, the families mentioned above are reliving the moment they found out their loved ones were taken away from them forever. They are reflecting on the feelings of their time with those loved ones being significantly and unfairly cut short and the timelines being frozen. It is a sad yearly and daily reminder to them of the time that was stolen from them.
It would be great if we could go back in time and change this event from history and were able to completely remove it. How different life and even the world would be right now. What if those 3,000 children were able to see their parents home for dinner that night instead? What if those 100 babies were able to be actually held by their parents as newborns? What if those 1,600 spouses or partners went on their regular date night with their loved ones? What if the Twin Towers were still standing in their original form today? What if American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77, United Airlines Flight 175, and United Airlines Flight 93 and their passengers made it to their original traveling destinations? What if over 20,000 additional people didn’t sustain injuries?
This was a tragic event and these families and the world will forever be affected by it. Time with loved ones is the most precious thing we have in life. It’s more important than what’s in our bank accounts, what title we have, what kind of car we drive. Time with loved ones is something none of us should ever take for granted. Once time is up, everything is just a mere memory, and although memories and legacies can be preserved, new memories that can’t be made can cause further feelings of loss and heartache.
Spend every second you can with your loved ones, for no one ever truly knows when our time is up. We will always remember all loved ones affected and those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 attacks. We will never forget❤️
